Across the duration of the exhibition, between June 2021 and January 2022, painter Pere Llobera visited the gallery one day a week, to work publicly on the reproduction of the mid-17th century depiction of Saint Agatha by Massimo Stanzione. Meanwhile, Mike and I researched the materials and relationships that came up through that process. We curated an informal set of the images that emerged from that research, from found image files all publicly available on the web, which started to both reveal and complicate some of the wider processes and connections manifest in the physical realities of the painting.
